The Story

Not, in the end, a book about illness.

In March 2023, Kevan Sharp survived a widowmaker heart attack after a 100% blockage of the LAD had gone untreated for nearly twenty hours. What followed was not a simple recovery.

Heart failure. Multiple stents. Parkinson’s disease. Strokes. PTSD. Years of medical uncertainty.

But this is not primarily a book about illness. It is the story of a man who began to understand that healing was different from being cured — and that a diagnosis did not have to become an identity.

What You’ll Find Inside

A broken heart that had little to do with arteries.

Surviving a Widowmaker traces a journey through childhood trauma, achievement, loss of identity, fear, medical crisis, and the search for belonging and meaning. Along the way, Kevan began confronting a much older wound: a broken heart that had little to do with arteries, and everything to do with learning to value and love himself.

The book explores resilience without pretending that recovery is easy, or that there is one path that works for everyone. It is a story about continuing to search, continuing to change, and refusing to give up when life no longer looks the way you expected.
